The development of religion can take many different forms as it varies greatly from diverse cultures. Religion encompasses the psychological and social aspects, along with origins from historical development. Despite various types of cultures, religion is bases on an organized approach to human spirituality that incorporates symbols, narratives, beliefs and practices.

Religion often involves a supernatural or transcendent power or quality that is used to give meaning to ones experiences of life through faith of that power. This faith is expressed either through prayer, ritual, meditation, music, art and many other methods.

The term religion can be used interchangeably with faith or belief system, but is generally more socially defined than personal assurance as it involved specific behaviours. Religion refers to both the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared experiences.

Religion can be viewed as a method of soul seeking and calming internal conflict through practices and faith. In religion, the immaterial aspect or essence of individuality and humanity, often considered to be synonymous with the mind or the self. In theology, the human soul is further defined as that part of the individual which partakes of divinity and often is considered to survive the death of the body.
