Yoga is a system of physical and mental practices, which are incorporated into living life in balance and harmony with yourself and your surrounding environment.The practice of Yoga includes various poses and exercises that involved deep breathing, body movement, meditation and relaxation.

 

Its purpose is to improve physical, emotional and metal health, thereby enhancing the divine quality of our lives.

 

By promoting a connection between the mind, body and spirit, the scientifically proven benefits of yoga are numerous, including an increase in flexibility, reduction of stress, reduction of muscle and body inflammation and pain. With proper instruction and regular practice everyone who practices yoga can gain some level of benefit.

  • Bikram: Known as “hot yoga,” the temperature in the room is approximately 41 hot and steamy degrees (105 degrees Fahrenheit). Each session includes the use of 26 postures and two different breathing exercises.
  • Ananda: This is a gentle practice that emphasizes the importance of meditation, breathing, and affirmations while flowing through different postures. 
  • Anusara: Translating to “following your heart,” this style highlights the heart, positive and balanced energy, and the freedom to change and adapt the practices as needed.
  • Tantra: Similar to Anusara, this style taps into the body’s natural energy while students are guided through various postures and visualization to achieve pleasure, joy and a sense of completion in their everyday lifestyle.
  • Ashtanga: Often known as power yoga, this type provides a heart-pounding, intense, and challenging workout. Physically, the goals are to increase stamina, strength, and flexibility. Mentally, you can appreciate the calming sense that the challenge can provide. This style incorporates deep detoxification due to the sweating that takes place during a session.
  • Integal: Emphasizing relaxation through controlled breathing and mediation, this type is more calming and therapeutic.
  • Kunadalini: Incorporating a mix of breathing, chanting and poses, this type aims to awaken natural energy and encourages self healing through the stimulation of the immune and nervous systems.
