Le Retreat

Welcome to le retreat, a stunning 14th century country house offering luxury gite accommodation. Le retreat is located close to where the gently rolling hills of the Poitou Charente meet the southern part of the Loire–Anjou–Touraine National Park. This scenic region is famous for its chateaux, vineyards and historic towns such as Saumur, Chinon and Richelieu. The peaceful environment makes le retreat ideal for individuals, couples and small groups seeking a relaxing holiday or a long weekend break.

The informal atmosphere at le retreat offers space for solitude as well as communal areas for socialising. There are exercise facilities, a saltwater swimming pool, a detoxifying infra–red sauna, bikes for your use and a screening room–library with films and books to keep you entertained. A separate building with its own walled courtyard garden offers rooms for workshops and group activities as well as therapy rooms for massage and facials.

Le retreat is set in 50 acres of beautiful countryside on the edge of the Scevolles Forest. Clean air, enchanting surroundings and enticing views combine harmoniously to create an idyllic stress–free environment. There are extensive tracks for walking, cycling and riding through the forest and ´La Ligne Verte´ a 40km all–weather nature path. The local village of Monts–sur–Guesnes is only 3km away and has most amenities and a small weekly produce market. In addition to the numerous historic places of interest in this area there are golf and race courses and activity parks including Futuroscope all within easy reach.
