The Shambhala Meditation Center of Boston is part of an international community of urban meditation and rural retreat centers founded by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche and further developed by his son and lineage holder Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche. Shambhala vision is rooted in the contemplative teachings of Buddhism, yet is a fresh expression of the spiritual journey for our time.

Treatments

The Shambhala Center emphasizes the practice of meditation based on both the Buddhist and Shambhala teachings, and the meditation-in-action of Nalanda Arts. We offer a large range of classes and events for newcomers, those interested in exploring a full path of practice and study, and our more advanced students (tantrikas). We also host community gatherings, and celebrations. In community life, we endeavor to put into practice the principles of courage and compassion. This helps us to experience daily life as a constant opportunity for spiritual practice and social service.

Where Boston Meditates
by Tashi Yudron
on August 26, 2010
Boston is a busy city, it's hectic, it's fraught with suffering and unhappiness, and I don't even know my neighbors. But when I walked into the Boston Shambhala Center for the first time, I felt I could relax, that I could release the breath I had been holding (for a long time apparently), and that I had found my home.

Here, I know my "neighbors" - we sit next to each other on the small blue cushions watching our in and out breaths, learning to notice habitual patterns and learning to be gentle with ourselves and others. Here, we talk about basic goodness, and here we slow down, even in the middle of the busy city.

So, for anyone looking to slow down, get to know their mind and heart, and meet wonderful people also journeying down the path of meditation, I'd recommend you come to the Boston Shambhala Center!
