You begin to relax as soon as you arrive in Donegal. It was always a dream of ours to capture this essence of beautiful surroundings outside, whilst simultaneously creating a soothing,calming atmosphere inside in our spa.
We have gone to tremendous effortto ensure that this is the customer experience.’Catherine further explains,We worked closely with architects who specialise in spa design, to develop an environment, which immediately gives a sense of calm andwell being and takes its inspiration from the naturally beautiful Sheephaven Bay. In addition, we wanted our customers to take advantage of the spectacular surroundings of Shandon Hotel Spa and Wellness. Our Canadian hot tub, vitality area and relaxing space all have uninterrupted views of the bay.

’The Shandon Hotel Spa has a uniquely designed vitality area equipped with aromatherapy showers, herbal sauna, salt grotto, and of course, aspacious vitality pool. The vitality pool designed to reflect theshore, is extremely effective in relieving muscle tension and in gentle massaging away all those aches and pains. The pool has floor to ceiling windows overlooking the sea.
There are 8 purpose built treatment rooms with soft lighting, soft towels and comfortable masseuse beds.The relaxing therapies include stone massage, seaweed wraps, Swedishand aromatherapy massage. For detoxing and (still relaxing) there is aThalasssotherapy Seaweed Body treatment and Balneo therapy, proven tomineralise and release tension in muscles. For pure indulgence, the Shandon Hotel Spa offer gorgeous skin treatments, like a, Honey BodyPolish or the pure indulgent Shandon Sea Spa Glow.
Clients begin the pampering the minute they walk in, by slipping into a soft fluffy robe and slippers.Says Catherine, ‘ We put together a package of highest quality treatments which use natural ingredients, many from the sea to make ourclients feel fully relaxed and refreshed.’All of the staff are fully qualified therapists and masseuses.

The Shandon Hotel Spa & Wellness Centre overlooks thespectacular Sheephaven Bay with only the beautiful Marble Hill Strand,just a short walk away, seperating it from the Atlantic. Dunfanaghy Village is just a couple of miles around the coast.
The village and surrounding area of Sheepahaven Bay is very popular withour visitors who return each year to relax and enjoy the scenic beautyof the area. The village has now a well established Festival programmewhich begins on St. Patricks Day with a parade led by the localMarching Bands with colourful floats and children in fancy dress.Entertainment follows with the Anvil Ceili Band providing traditionalCeili Dancing Music in the square for the set dances which is enjoyedby all who take part.
A Busking Competition is also part of the fun as well as local crafts,and the country market produce. Live Music with traditional sessions inthe local bars rounds off a most enjoyable day for all the family. The Workhouse first opened in 1845 on the eve of the Great Famine houses anexhibition of the life and times of the famine victims who perishedduring the famine years. It also has an excellent craft shop and tearoom.
Next door to the workhouse The Gallery/Craft Shop, originally theFever Hospital, has a fine collection of paintings by the famousWatercolour Artist Mr. Frank Eggington as well as a wide range of IrishCrafts. In the village we have a number of fine shops. TheTweed/Fashion and Craft Shop has quality Irish fashion and crafts aswell as jewellery and pottery.
Muck and Muffins/Pottery/Tea Rooms -Here you can experience the production of unusual hand made Dunfanaghypottery produced on site.Pauline’s Country Quilts – Pauline quilts are hand made to yourspecifications or you can select from the wide range of ready madequilts in stock as well as a fine selection of high quality hand madecraft items produced in Pauline.s workshop.
