Group Retreats allow time for ourselves, to think, feel, and relax, and include spending time in silent thought and awareness-on our own and together.

On Individual Retreats, Richard provides counselling, depth-psychotherapy and spiritual mentoring tailored to your individual needs and to the goals you have set with him for your retreat.

An individual retreat schedule includes physical work, inner work and session time with Richard, punctuated by meal times, periods of relaxation, walking and time for contemplation. Extra therapy sessions are available to you during your retreat if you feel the need for more individual time.

Extra activities on individual retreats include a wide selection of alternative and complementary therapies available in the area. We can help you to arrange massage and other therapies during your retreat. Beautiful walks are all around you - and our small non-chlorinated pool will cool and refresh you.

For individual retreats, you stay in the Mountain Yurt at Cortijo Llano de Manzano and for group retreats you stay in nearby accommodation (for which you pay a little extra).

Cortijo Llano de Manzano is set in a beautiful and tranquil three acres of walnut, peach and cherry trees, rocky outcrops and stone-walled terraces in the Alpujarras in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. The air is the cleanest in Europe, the views are breathtaking and on a clear day you can see the Atlas Mountains of North Africa over the Mediterranean Sea.

The Mountain Yurt is a circular structure which gives a feeling of wholeness and harmony and lends itself to restfulness and relaxation. Warm light is diffused from the crown during the day and at night you can lie in bed and see the stars in the night sky.

The Yurt is made of natural wood and canvas. There is a wood burner for the winter months and comfortable beds with cotton linen and duvet, and lanterns for light. A compost WC is nearby and showers are available in the house.

Llano Manzano is bordered by beautiful acequias (water channels) which create enchanting little waterfalls. There are many places where you can relax and reflect and beautiful mountain walks in all direction. We are a 15 minute walk from the beautiful unspoilt mountain village of Cañar. The Andalucian countryside here is both rugged and tranquil and we are surrounded by spectacular scenery and wildlife.

Apart from spectacular walking in the Sierra Nevada mountains, the beautiful white villages of Pampaneira, Bubión and Capileira lie to the east in the neighboring high mountain valley.

The two nearest towns in the valley below are Órgiva, the provincial capital of the Western Alpujarras, and Lanjarón. Both offer a wide variety of amenities as well as an “old town” atmosphere, characterized by picturesque streets and courtyards. The Balñeario de Lanjarón is a natural spa famous for its healing waters, massage and hydrotherapy treatments.

The Tibetan Monastery, O Sel Ling, a Buddhist retreat center, lies across the valley. It was named by the Dalai Lama as “the Place of the Clear Light”.

About an hour away to the south is the nearest beach at Salobreña.

The historic city of Granada, centre of the last Muslim kingdom of Andalucia, lies to the north. It offers the splendor of the Alhambra Palaces and the old Arab quarter, the Albaicín, as well as flamenco and local arab-style baths.
